Retirement Made Clear
Financial planning
Retirement Planning That Grows With You
Retirement planning is about more than simply saving money. It is about creating a strategy that can help support the lifestyle you want, both now and in the years ahead.
Because everyone’s goals, income, savings and timeline are different, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. A thoughtful retirement plan may include workplace retirement accounts, Social Security strategies, annuities, life insurance and other financial tools designed to help you build, protect and use your assets wisely.
Start With a Plan
The earlier you begin planning, the more time you have to build flexibility into your financial future. A strong retirement strategy starts with understanding:
- What you have saved today
- When you hope to retire
- The lifestyle you want to maintain
- How much income you may need
- Which financial tools may help you get there
For many people, that may mean taking advantage of employer-sponsored plans such as a 401(k), especially when matching contributions are available. From there, additional strategies may be considered based on your goals, risk tolerance and income needs.
Your Plan Should Evolve With You
Retirement planning is not a one-time decision. Your goals, finances and priorities can change over time, so your plan should be reviewed regularly and adjusted when needed.
Working with a retirement planning professional can help you evaluate your options, identify potential gaps and build a strategy focused on:
- Creating reliable retirement income
- Protecting accumulated assets
- Maximizing available benefits
- Preparing for unexpected expenses
- Supporting the lifestyle you want in retirement
The goal is simple: to help you feel more prepared, informed and confident about the years ahead.
What Is an Annuity?
An annuity is an insurance product designed to help you grow, protect or turn your savings into income. Depending on the type of annuity, it may offer tax-deferred growth, protection from market losses or guaranteed income you cannot outlive.
For many people, annuities can be one piece of a broader financial strategy — especially when planning for reliable income and greater financial confidence in the years ahead.
How Do Annuities Work?
Most annuities have two basic stages:
- Accumulation: Your money has the opportunity to grow within the contract.
- Income: You may take withdrawals or convert your accumulated value into an income stream.
Some annuities also offer optional income benefits designed to provide guaranteed lifetime income.
Because annuities come in many forms, the right choice depends on your goals, timeline and comfort with risk.
Types of Annuities
Fixed Annuities
Fixed annuities provide a declared interest rate and protection from market losses. Some, known as Multi-Year Guaranteed Annuities (MYGAs), guarantee a specific rate for a set number of years.
May be appropriate for: Clients seeking predictable growth and principal protection.
Fixed Indexed Annuities
Fixed indexed annuities earn interest based in part on the performance of a market index, such as the S&P 500®. Your money is not invested directly in the market, and negative index performance does not directly reduce your contract value due to market loss.
May be appropriate for: Clients looking for growth potential with downside protection.
Single-Premium Immediate Annuities
A SPIA converts a lump sum into a stream of income that typically begins within one year of purchase.
May be appropriate for: Clients who want to turn savings into dependable income right away.
Deferred Income Annuities
A deferred income annuity allows you to purchase future income today and delay payments until a later date.
May be appropriate for: Clients who want to create guaranteed income for later in life.
Variable Annuities
Variable annuities offer investment options whose values can rise or fall with market performance. Because they involve securities and market risk, they differ significantly from fixed and fixed indexed annuities.
Creating Income You Can Count On
Certain annuities offer lifetime income features that can provide income for as long as you live. These benefits may involve additional costs and vary by product, so it is important to understand how the income feature works before choosing a contract.
Is an Annuity Right for You?
There is no single annuity that is right for everyone. The best option depends on what you want your money to accomplish — whether that is growth, protection, income or a combination of all three.
Our team can help you understand your options and determine whether an annuity may have a place in your overall financial plan.
Estate Planning With the People You Love in Mind
Estate planning is about making sure the people and things that matter most to you are taken care of according to your wishes.
A thoughtful estate plan can help organize how your assets are managed and eventually passed on to the people or organizations you choose. It can also make things easier for your loved ones by providing greater clarity and reducing unnecessary complications during an already difficult time.
Estate planning may include more than a will. Depending on your situation, it can involve:
- Reviewing beneficiary designations
- Planning for the transfer of property and other assets
- Considering potential tax implications
- Creating a strategy for leaving a financial legacy
- Coordinating insurance, annuities, trusts and other financial tools
Why Estate Planning Matters
You don’t need to have a large estate to benefit from planning ahead. Whether you want to provide for your family, protect a business, support a favorite cause or simply make your wishes clear, having a plan can provide valuable peace of mind.
Different assets may also be treated differently when they are passed to beneficiaries. Understanding how your savings, investments, insurance, retirement accounts and property work together can help you make more informed decisions about your legacy.
We can help you look at the bigger picture and explore strategies that complement your financial and retirement goals. When legal or tax guidance is needed, we can also work alongside the appropriate professionals to help ensure the pieces of your plan work together.
The goal is simple: help you protect what you’ve built and make the transition as smooth as possible for the people you care about most.
When Should You Claim Social Security?
One of the most important retirement decisions you can make is when to begin receiving Social Security benefits.
You can begin receiving retirement benefits as early as age 62, but doing so will permanently reduce your monthly benefit. For individuals born in 1960 or later, full retirement age is 67. Waiting beyond full retirement age can increase your monthly benefit until age 70.
Taking Benefits Early
Pro: You can begin receiving income as early as age 62.
- Continuing to work may increase your future benefit if your new earnings replace one of the lower years in your 35-year earnings history.
Consideration: Claiming before full retirement age permanently reduces your monthly benefit.
- If you continue working before full retirement age, benefits may also be temporarily withheld if your earnings exceed Social Security’s annual limit.
- In 2026, the limit is $24,480 for individuals under full retirement age for the entire year.
- Once you reach full retirement age, there is no earnings limit, and Social Security recalculates your benefit to account for months when benefits were withheld.
Delaying Benefits
Pro: Waiting beyond full retirement age can increase your monthly benefit.
- For those born in 1943 or later, delayed retirement credits generally increase benefits by 8% per year.
- Benefits stop increasing once you reach age 70.
Consideration: Waiting means giving up benefits you could have received earlier.
- Your health, income needs, other assets and expected longevity can all play a role in determining when it makes sense to claim.
There is no single claiming age that is right for everyone. Roger Fox Insurance & Financial Services can help you review your options and determine a Social Security strategy based on your individual circumstances and retirement goals.
Tax Planning With the Future in Mind
Tax planning is about looking beyond this year’s tax return and making thoughtful financial decisions for the years ahead.
A well-designed strategy can help you understand how taxes may affect your income, savings, investments and the assets you eventually pass on to loved ones. The goal is to identify opportunities to manage taxes efficiently while keeping your overall financial goals in mind.
Why Tax Planning Matters
Tax planning isn’t just for people with significant wealth. Different types of assets can receive different tax treatment, which can affect both your finances today and what your beneficiaries may receive in the future.
Depending on your situation, planning may include:
- Managing taxes on retirement income and withdrawals
- Making the most of tax-deferred or tax-advantaged accounts
- Considering the tax impact of investments and property
- Planning for the transfer of assets to loved ones
- Coordinating tax strategies with your retirement and estate plans
For business owners and those with property or other complex assets, planning ahead can also help avoid unexpected tax issues down the road.
A Strategy Built Around You
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to tax planning. Your income, assets, family and long-term goals all play a role in determining which strategies may be appropriate.
At Roger Fox Insurance & Financial Services, we can help you look at the bigger picture and explore tax-conscious strategies that work alongside your financial, retirement and legacy plans. When specialized tax or legal advice is needed, we can also coordinate with the appropriate professionals.
The goal is to help you make informed decisions today while keeping more options open for tomorrow.

Life Insurance for the People Who Matter Most
Life insurance is about helping protect the people you care about and providing greater financial security when they may need it most.
The right coverage can help your loved ones manage everyday expenses, a mortgage, outstanding debts, education costs and other financial responsibilities if you are no longer there to provide for them.
More Than a Death Benefit
While the primary purpose of life insurance is to provide a death benefit to your beneficiaries, certain policies may also offer benefits you can use during your lifetime.
Depending on the policy, these may include:
- Cash value accumulation
- Access to cash value through loans or withdrawals
- Accelerated death benefits
- Benefits for certain chronic, critical or long-term care needs
The features available vary by policy, but they can make life insurance an important part of both your protection and overall financial strategy.
Term or Permanent Life Insurance?
Most life insurance falls into two broad categories.
Term Life Insurance
Term insurance provides coverage for a set period of time, such as 10, 20 or 30 years. Because it is designed primarily to provide a death benefit, it can be an affordable way to protect your family during the years when your financial responsibilities may be greatest.
It may be appropriate for needs such as replacing income, protecting a mortgage or providing financial support while children are growing up.
Permanent Life Insurance
Permanent life insurance is designed to provide lifelong coverage as long as the requirements of the policy are met. Many permanent policies also build cash value that may be accessed during your lifetime.
Different types of permanent coverage — including whole life, universal life and indexed universal life — offer different combinations of guarantees, flexibility and growth potential.
Coverage Designed Around You
Choosing life insurance doesn’t have to feel complicated. Your family, finances and goals are unique, and your coverage should reflect that.
We’ll take the time to understand what matters most to you, explain your options in straightforward terms and help you find coverage that fits your needs and budget.
Health Coverage for Every Stage of Life
No one can predict when they may need medical care, but having the right health coverage can make unexpected expenses easier to manage.
Health insurance can help with the cost of doctor visits, hospital care, prescriptions, preventive services and other medical needs — giving you greater confidence that you’re prepared when care is needed.
Planning for Healthcare Costs
Healthcare needs can change throughout your life, especially as you approach and enter retirement. Depending on your situation, your plan may include:
- Employer or retiree health coverage
- Medicare and Medicare supplement insurance
- Medicaid
- Long-term care insurance
- Health Savings Accounts (HSAs)
- Personal savings and other financial resources
Medicare & Supplemental Coverage
For most Americans, Medicare eligibility begins at age 65. Medicare includes different parts that help cover hospital care, medical services, prescription drugs and other healthcare needs.
Because Medicare does not cover every expense, some individuals also choose Medicare Advantage or Medicare Supplement coverage to help manage out-of-pocket costs.
Preparing for Long-Term Care
Traditional health insurance and Medicare generally provide limited coverage for extended long-term care needs. Long-term care insurance may help cover services such as:
- Care at home
- Assisted living
- Nursing home care
- Other qualifying long-term care services
Options vary, and some life insurance or annuity products may also offer long-term care benefits.
Find Coverage That Fits Your Needs
Healthcare can feel complicated, but you don’t have to sort through your options alone.
We’ll help you understand your coverage choices and find solutions that fit your health needs, budget and overall financial plan.
Protect Your Income When Life Takes an Unexpected Turn
Your ability to earn an income is one of your most important financial assets. If an illness or injury keeps you from working, disability insurance can help replace a portion of your income so you can continue covering everyday expenses while you focus on recovery.
According to the Social Security Administration, more than one in four 20-year-olds may experience a disability before reaching retirement age.
How Disability Insurance Can Help
Disability insurance is designed to provide ongoing income when a covered illness or injury prevents you from working.
It may help you continue paying for things like:
- Mortgage or rent
- Utilities
- Groceries
- Insurance premiums
- Other everyday expenses
Disability coverage is different from accident insurance, which may provide a one-time payment after a covered injury. Depending on your needs, the two types of coverage may work together.
What to Consider
Disability insurance policies can vary, so it is important to understand a few key features:
- Elimination period: How long you must wait before benefits begin
- Benefit period: How long benefits may be paid
- Definition of disability: How the policy determines whether you qualify for benefits
- Benefit amount: How much of your income the policy may replace
Coverage Designed Around You
Our team can help you review your options and find coverage that fits your income, occupation and financial needs.
The goal is simple: help you stay financially prepared, even when the unexpected keeps you from working.
Planning Ahead for Long-Term Care
Living longer is a good thing, but it also means there may come a time when you need extra help with everyday activities or ongoing care.
Long-term care planning can help you prepare for those possibilities while protecting your savings and giving you more choice in how and where care is received.
What Long-Term Care Insurance Can Help Cover
Unlike traditional health insurance, which is generally designed for short-term medical needs, long-term care insurance is intended to help with ongoing support and personal care.
Depending on the policy, benefits may help cover:
- Assisted living
- Home health care
- Nursing home care
- Help with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing or eating
- Other qualifying long-term care services
Coverage and benefits vary by policy, but the goal is often the same: to help reduce the financial burden of care and provide greater flexibility for you and your family.
More Than One Way to Plan
Long-term care coverage may be available through a traditional stand-alone policy or as part of certain life insurance or annuity products.
Some qualified long-term care policies may also offer tax advantages, depending on your individual circumstances.
We‘ll explore your options and find a strategy that fits your needs, budget and overall financial plan.
Extra Financial Support When You Need It Most
A serious illness can affect more than your health — it can also create unexpected expenses and time away from work. Critical illness insurance is designed to provide additional financial support following the diagnosis of certain covered conditions.
Depending on the policy, covered conditions may include:
- Cancer
- Heart attack
- Stroke
- Organ transplant
- Paralysis
- Other specified serious illnesses
How Critical Illness Insurance Can Help
Unlike traditional health insurance, which generally pays medical providers for covered care, critical illness insurance typically provides a lumpsum benefit directly to you when the requirements of the policy are met.
That money can generally be used however you choose, including for:
- Deductibles and other medical expenses
- Mortgage or rent payments
- Everyday household bills
- Travel related to treatment
- Childcare or caregiving expenses
- Lost income while you focus on recovery
Critical illness coverage may be available as an individual policy, through an employer or as an additional benefit on certain insurance policies.
A Little More Peace of Mind
We’ll work with you to understand your options and determine whether critical illness coverage makes sense as part of your overall protection strategy.
Protect the Things That Matter to You
Your home, belongings and other property represent years of hard work. Property insurance can help protect you financially when the unexpected happens, whether that is damage, theft or another covered loss.
Depending on the type of coverage you have, protection may be available for your:
- Home or rental property
- Furniture, electronics and personal belongings
- Vehicles
- Boats or recreational vehicles
- Other valuable property
Coverage varies by policy, so it is important to understand what is — and is not — included. Certain risks, such as flooding, may require separate coverage.
Replacement Cost vs. Actual Cash Value
When personal property is damaged or lost, your policy may reimburse you in one of two common ways:
- Replacement Cost: Helps cover the cost of replacing an item with a similar new item.
- Actual Cash Value: Pays based on the item’s current value after accounting for age and depreciation.
Knowing which type of coverage you have can make a big difference when it is time to file a claim.
Make Sure Your Coverage Keeps Up
Your insurance needs can change as you buy a home, make improvements or add new belongings. Reviewing your coverage regularly can help make sure your policy still fits your needs.
A few simple steps can help:
- Keep an updated inventory of your belongings
- Estimate the current value of important items
- Review your policy limits and deductibles
- Check for special limits on jewelry, collectibles or other high-value possessions
- Ask whether additional coverage may be needed for certain risks or property
Our team will review your coverage and make sure the things you have worked hard for are properly protected.
Protect the Business You’ve Worked Hard to Build
Running a business comes with opportunity — and risk. Commercial insurance can help protect your business, employees, property and finances when the unexpected happens.
The right coverage depends on how your business operates, the people you employ and the risks you face every day.

Helps protect your business from claims involving bodily injury, property damage and other covered liability risks.
Business Owners Policy (BOP)
Combines common protections, such as general liability and commercial property coverage, into one convenient policy for eligible businesses.

Professional Liability Insurance

Industry-Specific Coverage

Coverage That Fits Your Business
No two businesses are exactly alike. Our team can help you review your risks, understand your options and build coverage designed around the way you do business.
The goal is to help protect what you’ve built so you can stay focused on what comes next.
Understanding Medicare
Medicare can feel complicated at first, but understanding the basics can make choosing your coverage much easier.
Medicare is a federal health insurance program primarily for people age 65 and older. It may also be available to certain individuals under age 65 who have qualifying disabilities or specific medical conditions.
Medicare Has Different Parts
Medicare is made up of several parts, each covering different healthcare needs.
Original Medicare is the traditional federal Medicare program and includes:
· Part A: Helps cover hospital stays and certain inpatient care
· Part B: Helps cover doctor visits, outpatient care and many preventive services
From there, you may have additional coverage options:
· Part C (Medicare Advantage): An alternative to Original Medicare offered by private insurance companies. These plans combine Part A and Part B coverage and may include prescription drug coverage and other benefits.
· Part D: Helps cover prescription medications.
Some people who choose Original Medicare also purchase a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) policy to help cover certain out-of-pocket costs that Parts A and B do not pay.
Finding Coverage That Fits You
There are a lot of choices to consider, and the right option can depend on your healthcare needs, prescriptions, budget and preferred doctors.
We can help explain your options in straightforward terms and guide you toward coverage that fits your needs.
